Time Laps

Provincija and Polis present the performance Time Laps by the Montreal artists Claudia Fancello and Sophie Trudea
Pula, Forum 13
12th of July 2010 from 1:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Time Laps is a project created by Claudia Fancello and Sophie Trudeau, two artists committed to the possibilities of generic collision in art-making. Claudia is a co-creator of the pme-art interdisciplinary group, which has presented its work in Canada and Europe. Sophie is a member of the collective Godspeed you Black Emperor!, a Canadian band world renowned for the integral visual element of its live performances and the cinematic quality of its music. The talks of eventual collaboration between the pair finally came to fruition in December 2009 with a study cantered on the general concept of repetition in time. Their interpretation of this concept became an interesting knit of their respective disciplines, combining sound installation and durational performance. Out of this collaborative work an 8-hour piece emerged in which the space is gradually taken over by sounds, actions, and physical objects. This accumulation bears witness to the frequency of repetition and the passing of time.

Time Laps is going to take place on the 12th of July from 1:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the venues of the building at Forum Square 13.

Fourth Polis by the end of May

The fourth Polis Adriatic Europe festival is going to be held from the 21st to the 23rd of May 2009. “The City within the City” will emerge inside the walls of the Former Printing-Plant, already a traditional Polis gathering -spot for artists coming from both sides of the Adriatic. The theme of this year’s Polis is the Tourist city.

The multidisciplinary programme has been created by the programme board: Branka Benčić (visual arts), Alen Sinkauz (music, performance) and Magdalena Vodopija (literature). The starting point and the main focus of this year’s festival are visual arts and architecture, but the outlines of the “ideal Tourist city” will be created with music, literature, film...

As in the past years Polis is focused on productions. This year’s productions will be created by the visual artist Ivan Dobran and the architects Pula’s Group. For the first time a Polis-School “City within the City” is going to be organised with Jovan Čekić and Janko Rožič as lecturers.
